Vince H. Otte
Chairman & Chief Executive Officer

Vince acquired AOMI in 1990 and changed its name to Barrister Executive Suites, Inc. In recognition of his turnaround of the company, Otte received the “Entrepreneur of the Year” from Inc. magazine in 1993. Under his tenure, Barrister has grown from 11 locations to its current 28 locations.

In the late 1980’s, Vince was a founder and partner of the Pacific Equity Development Corporation, a merchant banking firm specializing in arranging financing, leveraged buyouts, acquisitions and divestitures for companies with revenues ranging from $10 to $200 million. Otte was treasurer for Ducommun Inc., a $500 million company from 1978 to 1982. He was a vice president for Wells Fargo and Union Bank from 1972 to 1978.

Vince received his MBA from University of California, Berkeley. He also earned an advanced degree in credit & finance management from Stanford Business School and a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University.

 

Margaret Gunning
Executive Vice President & General Manager

Margaret oversees the individual financial performance for each of Barrister’s suites. She also manages the corporate lease processing and terminations department. Margaret has 30 years experience in the Executive Suite industry, holding positions including vice president of operations and regional sales manager.

Margaret earned a bachelor of science in psychology and a certificate in business administration from UCLA.

 

Alain Wittman
Chief Financial Officer

Alain has over 20 years of combined experience in Property Management and Real Estate Finance. Prior to joining Barrister, he worked as an accounting manager for Trammell Crow Company, overseeing large portfolios of mixed used projects.

Alain is a native of France. He attended Aix-Marseille University, earning a master of science in accounting.

 

Carrie Gates
Vice President, Sales & Marketing

Carrie oversees all aspects of the sales, marketing, and leasing efforts for the Barrister’s 28 Southern California locations. She has over 24 years of industry experience, holding positions as director of sales, area leasing manager, and suite manager. Since joining the company in 1990, Carrie has assisted with the acquisitions and dispositions of numerous centers, and with the company’s growth from 11 to 28 locations.

She is a member of GWA (Global Workspace Association) and LACRA (Los Angeles Commercial Real Estate Association). Carrie served as president of OBCAI (Office Business Center Association International) in 2009, was awarded its Industry Leadership award in 2007, and received the Life Member Award in 2010.

Carrie earned an AA degree from Marymount Palos Verdes College and attended University of San Diego with a major in Liberal Studies.

 

Patrice Harding
Director of Human Resources

Patrice oversees the company’s human resources department. Prior to joining the company in 1997, she served as financial development director for a non-profit organization and managed a small law firm. She previously worked for eight years in human resources for a major department store and was a successful residential real estate agent.

Patrice earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Loyola Marymount University.

 

Karen Kwiatt McNamar
Project Manager

Karen manages all construction, remodels and tenant improvement projects. She also coordinates location openings, closings, and interior design. She supervises company-wide inventory documentation and corporate records storage.

Prior to rejoining Barrister, Karen served as Assistant to the Governor for Management and Administration under Governor Pete Wilson in Sacramento. She also served as Assistant to the Counsel to the President under President Ronald Reagan in Washington, DC. She has over 40 years’ experience in both the public and private sectors.
