“After learning that one in seven local residents faces hunger and that children and seniors are the hardest hit, we decided to reach out to our community of tenants and try to help,” says Margaret Gunning, Barrister’s Executive Vice President and General Manager. “We are calling on those who are able to contribute to this cause.”
At each of Barrister’s 20 suites, tenants can make a donation to the food drive by simply dropping off a check at the reception desk. On November 15th, all the checks will be collected and a donation will be made to the Food Bank.
“Sometimes people don’t know exactly what they can to do to help, so we’re trying to make it easier for them. We all gain from having a healthy community,” Gunning adds.
The funds we raise will help the Food Bank supply food to over 550 charitable agencies with more than 900 sites that provide food for low-income children, families, senior citizens and individuals in need throughout Los Angeles and San Diego County.
Every dollar raised enables the Food Bank to distribute four meals or five pounds of food. This means we can provide more than 400 meals for every $100 raised. We believe that a fund drive is the easiest way for us to give back to our community. With over 2,000 tenants, we hope to raise 10,000 pounds of food for the LA and San Diego Food Banks.
