Tenant in the Spotlight: Steven Ricklin

Barrister Executive Suites, Inc. would like to congratulate Steven Ricklin!  Mr. Ricklin is a tenant at Westlake Village and the recent recipient of an award honoring his selflessness from the Rotary Club of Westlake Village.

Mr. Ricklin was surprised with the award at a weekly luncheon hosted on Wednesday, June 22nd. Steven has been a Rotary member for four years.  In his role as Chairman of the Incoming New Generation for 2011, he is responsible for all youth projects in the Conejo Valley for all school age children and teenagers.  His most recent project is placing a High School student from Denmark into Agoura High School.

Mr. Ricklin has a successful Family Law Firm in Westlake Village.  He has over 15 years of experience practicing in all 5 counties of Southern California.  Aside from Mr. Ricklin’s charitable work with the community he enjoys tennis and collecting fine wines.

Tenant Social in Pasadena

On July 1st the Barrister Executive Suites, Inc. staff at the Corporate Center Pasadena will be hosting a tenant social.  Barrister’s popular tenant socials are a way for tenants to take a break from work and get to know their neighbors.  There are always new faces in the suite and Barrister encourages them to join the community and to take advantage of the excellent networking. 

 “The tenant social is a time for tenants to forget about work and have a good time.  Some tenants will begin to talk about their business, but we welcome it.  As the Suite Manager I encourage my tenants to network within the suite.  I see that a lot of business gets referred by tenants who are in the same industry or even those that aren’t,” says Suite Manager, Toni Hernandez.  “That is what is unique at Barrister – a lawyer can work out of an office and have a CPA to his left and software company to his right.  And, he doesn’t have to go far to get help or to make a referral.”

The tenant social also reminds tenants that the office can also be a place for fun!  And why shouldn’t it be if you are there 9 to 5, Monday through Friday?  With a suite full of different professionals, a community is developed and tenants can have a more enjoyable time at the office. 

Barrister will be providing a giant sub sandwich and drinks, while other tenants bring their favorite side dish, appetizer, or dessert to share.  Barrister in Pasadena looks forward to seeing all of their tenants for a bite to eat!

Success at Barrister’s Newest Location

Barrister’s Del Mar Tenants & Staff Celebrate Mardi Gras

Long-time tenant, Dr. Tammy Mondry of New Horizons Physical Therapy shows off her winning slice of the cake.

This week the tenants and staff at Barrister Executive Suites, Inc.’s Del Mar location celebrated Mardi Gras with a fun networking mixer themed “Sinful Desserts.” Barrister supplied a decorated cake complete with a small, hidden trinket inside, similar to that of a King’s Cake. The conference room was turned into a west coast version of Mardi Gras, complete with decorations and beads. Tenants and Barrister staff brought their favorite treats for everyone to indulge in, while they mingled amongst one another. 

Dr. Tammy Mondry with New Horizons Physical Therapy, who is also an original tenant of the suite, was the lucky winner of an Amazon.com gift card when she found the concealed trinket in her slice of the cake.

Barrister was presented with another great opportunity to interact with the local business community when we sponsored a table at the Fine Wine & Food Festival sponsored by the Woodland Hills/Tarzana Chamber of Commerce.

Our staffers, Kerri Linda Morales, Sharon Northrup, and Pauline Steinberg, educated attendees about the advantages in leasing an executive suite with Barrister.

“It’s always great, particularly in this business climate, to talk about Barrister’s foundation of longevity and financial stability,” Morales said.

 

Afternoon Tea at Barrister Serves as Opportunity to Network

The Mad Hatter wasn’t present for the recent tea party held at our Century City location, but the laughter and good times flowed just the same.

Barrister tenants and staff gathered for an End of Summer Afternoon Tea networking event. While tea was served and finger sandwiches were passed, tenants mingled and utilized the opportunity to exchange business cards.

The afternoon was also a great opportunity to welcome new tenants and learn about one another’s business or practice.

Barrister Assistant Vice President Jacqui White drew from her British background for the idea of tea in the afternoon. 

“We had a tremendous turnout,” White said.  “Numerous tenants have expressed how much they enjoyed the opportunity to mingle and relax.”

P68 Tenant Lunch RevisedBy all appearances, the recent office appreciation lunch we hosted in San Diego was taking place at a large, downtown law firm.  With attorneys comprising 75 percent of our tenant base, our 525 B Street office in the Golden Eagle Plaza–which coincidentally, previously housed a law firm–has the culture of a firm, including the seamless support of our administrative staff and back office resources.

In addition to us showing our appreciation and checking in with our new and long-term tenants, this was an opportunity for them to do a little networking and renew acquaintances.

Barrister’s Suite Manager for San Diego, Amy Hicks sees first hand the synergy that has evolved amongst the attorneys at her office. 

“They are always exchanging ideas, discussing current case law, and referring cases back and forth.  It’s an invaluable resource for them to have like-minded contemporaries to rely on to cover a court appearance when on vacation, or file a pleading in an emergency. There are even occasions when attorneys share secretarial and paralegal support.”

Richard Norton is a principal at NORTON MOORE & ADAMS, LLP, a firm that handles civil cases.  He has been with us since our inception at the building in 2003.

“I have been here since Barrister started in this building and intend to continue my tenancy into the future,” Norton said.
